Dr. Akshaya Kumar
Dr. Akshaya Kumar is an Associate Professor of physics at Tuskegee University with more than ten years of undergraduate teaching experience. He has been the recipient of Tuskegee University’s outstanding faculty performance award for teaching and faculty of the year award. His area of research is spectroscopy of rare earth doped glasses and laser induced breakdown spectroscopy. He is the author of several joint publications in refereed journals and has a patent. Dr. Kumar has been chair and co-chair for several terms in the Physics and Mathematics section of the Alabama Academy of Science. Dr. Kumar’s role in the EVTC program will be to serve as the Tuskegee project co-PI. In this role, he will help in organizing lectures, demonstrations, seminars and providing outreach education activities for Tuskegee University students and for K-12 students and teachers from Tuskegee associated public school systems.
