Electric Vehicle Market and Technology Workshop

The Electric Vehicle Market and Technology Workshop is a half-day educational workshop which intends to provide attendees with detailed information regarding various types of EVs, EV charging technologies, the state-of-the-art battery technologies, average consumer usage of EVs, EV impact of future workforce, and EVs as backup power generators. The workshop will also have a guest speaker from Idaho National Laboratory presenting findings from the Department of Energy EV Project. EV Transportation & Technology Summit

The EV Transportation and Technology Summit will focus on transportation planning and infrastructure requirements needed to support the adoption of all forms of EVs. The Summit will provide an update on the current state of EV deployment, technology and planning. This unique Summit is presented by the Electric Vehicle Transportation Center at the University of Central Florida's Solar Energy Center in Cocoa, Florida. The Electric Vehicle Transportation Center (EVTC) at the University of Central Florida is a U.S. Department of Transportation-funded center focused on transforming the transportation system to accommodate the influx of electric and plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) and their power demands.

The Electric Vehicle Transportation Center (EVTC) will prepare transportation planners with the ability to accommodate the influx of electric vehicles into a sustainable transportation system while at the same time, seizing the opportunity these vehicles present to enhance electric grid modernization efforts. Electric vehicles (EVs) provide the unique capability of being able to store energy, thus, this feature allows EVs to both use and supply energy to the nations electric grid. New “smart-grid enabled” inverters and chargers will feature real time, two-way communication, providing live network access and the ability to control system power output remotely. The new transportation network will now be capable of both using and feeding the electric transmission network. The EVTC will leverage the resources of its partner universities to conduct the needed research and development and to inspire, train, and support the scientists, engineers, and technicians of the future.

The EVTC is a consortium of transportation and energy experts from the University of Central Florida (UCF), University of Hawai'i, and Tuskegee University in Alabama. It is led by UCF's Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC). The EVTC program will also employ a collaborative working group of industry professionals, utility representatives, manufacturers and national labs and agencies to assist in program development for the purpose of accelerating EV acceptance and adoption.
